In my previous post on “The Racist calls Us Racist” as reaction to Mr. Meas Sochea on his article accusing MP Sam Rainsy of Being Racist, I strongly comdemned Mr. Meas Sochea for his ignorance. But now the matter is clear and incredibly the true inciter is the racist editor of the Phnom Penh Post who has lived and worked in Cambodia, may be for along time , for one of so-called high professional newspapers in the country. And I cannot tolerate him. Below is the email of Mr. Meas Sochea´s clarification sent to Khmerization.
Thank you for your criticizing, but I regret that you have not been thoughtful about the news. I recognize that this article was reported by me as a reporter but I did not use the word Yuon and did not add in phrase “racist epithet for the Vietnamese.” This word and this phrase were written by the editor. I have requested him to use the word Vietnam in the bracket [Vietnam] instead of Yuon but he did not listen to me.
Best regards,
Meas Sokchea
Reporter for PP Post
To my demand is that the involved editor of the Phnom Penh Post must:
- unconditionally remove or recorrect that article.
- make public appology to us- Khmers.
- responsibly explain us his intention why he chose to use such an inciting and sensitive words ”the racist epithet for the Vietnamese” for the word “YOUN” which labeled MP Sam Rainsy as the racist even though he is objected and recommened by Mr. Meas Sochea not to use it.
Or consequently that editor will not be welcomed in Cambodia if he wants to be above us and shows no respect to our country and our people. We Khmers can´t accept the racist to immorally label us racist like him.
The editor of Phnom Penh Post must know that this issue really offends the majority of Cambodians who colloquially use the word “YOUN” and would misunderstandingly place us and the democratic SRP in the bad image in the eyes of international communities if it is not clearly and responsibly clarified. Moreover, this incitment can even fuel and deepen more national conflict between the SRP camp and the communist CPP camp. With this, I think we Cambodians will not let the editor who involed in the article to walk away without taking responsibility.
To Mr. Meas Sochea, please accept my appology in my first article for putting you in the group of Hun Xen and his cronies.
