I  would like to inform all interested persons that I am exposing tomorrow,

at a press conference in Phnom Penh, additional evidence based on thorough historical and geographic research and modern technologies that confirms that Cambodia is victim of border encroachment. I defy anybody, especially competent government officials from both Cambodia and Vietnam, to prove the contrary. I am sure all independent experts all over the world, if asked by any interested institution, would confirm that I am right. The truth on this issue will have far reaching political implications. This is why the Hun Sen government is so nervous about this case as reflected by the way they handled  today’s sham and speedy trial and their threat to prosecute anybody who would publicise the evidence I am exposing.

On January 25, opposition leader Sam Rainsy took part in a radio call-in show on the border issue. He elaborated on the latest evidence contained in a 15-sheet file (available at http://tinyurl.com/y9d7qho) exposing border encroachment in the commune of Samraong, in Svay Rieng province where he recently pulled out a fake border post that was illegally planted on a Khmer farmer’s rice field, well within Cambodia’s territory.

SRP´s Lawmakers Will Visit Along the Cambodian-Vietnam Border

As I have preiously posted about the visit plan of SRP´s lawmakers to the Cambodian-Youn border and it is strongtly reacted by CPP´s jungle PhD Cheam Yeap. Responsibly, SRP´s leaders are not backed down by the threat of  puppet CPP and the visit will go ahead as planed.

Below is the Press Release of SRP´s cabinet about the plan of the visit that it will  be scheduled on Monday 14 December 2009 to Svay Rieng province in order to investigate the border posts installed by Cambodian-Youn border committes.

The participants will be met at 6:30 AM, at  SRP´s Headquarter,#71, Sangkat Basak, Khan Chamkarmorn, Phnom Penh.

No Human Rights for Human Rights Defenders

My parliamentary immunity was removed by the National Assembly on 16 November 2009 for the second time this year and only five months after the immunity of two other opposition lawmakers, Ms. Mu Sochua and Mr. Ho Van, was removed. The National Assembly is not independent and effectively “rubber stamps” political decisions made by the Cambodian People’s Party and Prime Minister Hun Sen.  It spends its time doing this instead of defending the interests of the nation and the interests of the ordinary Khmer people such as poor and vulnerable farmers who are losing their vital rice fields and other farmland to the rich and powerful.

Worth noting are the following points concerning the rights of Members of Parliament as stipulated in Article 80 of the Constitution of the Kingdom of Cambodia :

Members of Parliament shall have parliamentary immunity.

• No Member of Parliament shall be prosecuted, detained or arrested because of opinions expressed during the exercise of his or her duties. Read the rest of this entry »
