Following the third border clash in January, the Siamese govt spokesman Panitan said the dead was a siamese civilian even though the Cambodian side

claimed that he was black-clad soldier. The article can be read fully at the Phnom Penh Post today.

“Our troops were patrolling the border on Friday morning when they found that 20 Thai soldiers had entered Cambodian territory,” Sarun Chanthy said, adding that despite a request from Cambodian troops asking them to return to Thailand, the Thai soldiers remained at the site when the patrol returned that evening.

“When we returned that night, they had set up their camp, and when we asked them to leave again, suddenly they opened fire on us,” Sarun Chanthy said.

“The Thai soldiers withdrew from the area after a brief exchange of gunfire, and when we returned to the site the next morning, we found the dead body of one Thai.” Read more of this post

Cambodian and Thai troops clashed about 5 minutes at the abandoned border village of Choam Te, 20 kilometres from Preah Vihear temple on the morning of Sunday 24th January, reports Deum Ampil.

Cambodian military sources said two brief clashes erupted when Cambodian troops saw a group of Thai soldiers patrolling 500 metres deep inside Cambodian territory at an abandoned village of Choam Te. Read more of this post
