DAP News has published a secret telephone conversation between Prime Minister Hun Sen and Mr. Kem Sokha which took place on 25th July 2007 about the creation of the Human Rights Party (HRP). The leak was timely and seemed to be intended to create suspicions, mistrusts and cause rifts between the HRP and the Sam Rainsy Party (SRP) who have been controversially engaged in merger talks that ended with increased animosity between the two parties. The leak has also come out amid increased rumours and accusations that the HRP is supported by the ruling Cambodian People’s Party and that Mr. Kem Sokha is a proxy of Mr. Hun Sen.
DAP News reported that the transcript and the audio of this secret phone conversation between the pair was leaked to DAP News by an official close to Prime Minister Hun Sen. If so, the leak was surely sanctioned by Mr. Hun Sen himself with the intention of creating further mistrusts between the SRP president, Mr. Sam Rainsy, and the HRP president, Mr. Kem Sokha, who had an ignominiously fall out resulting from the many failed merger talks.

Neither Mr. Hun sen nor Mr. Kem Sokha has come out to confirm the authenticity of this alleged phone conversation between the pair as both had not made any public statement regarding this alleged secret phone conversation. Please click here to listen to Mr. Hun Sen’s and Mr. Kem Sokha’s secret phone conversation.
